The upcoming Skoda Kushaq is ready to challenge the dominance of Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos in the mid-size SUV segment. The carmaker recently unveiled its production-ready version that looks similar to the Vision IN concept that was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo.
Official bookings for the model will begin in June and its deliveries will start in July 2021. The Kushaq model lineup will be spread across three trims – Active, Ambition and Style – which are estimated to cost between Rs 10 lakh – Rs 16 lakh. The carmaker says that it has achieved up to 95 percent localization.
Buyers will have five bring colours to choose from – Honey Orange, Tornado Red, Brilliant Silver, Carbon Steel and Candy White. Engine setup of the Skoda Kushaq will include a 1.0L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol and 1.5L, 4-cylinder turbo petrol unit. The former will deliver power worth 113bhp and available exclusively with a 6-speed torque convertor automatic gearbox. The latter will be good for 147bhp and come with a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission. A 6-speed manual gearbox will be standard across the model lineup. Skoda Kushaq is one of the feature-packed cars in its segment. It has been equipped with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, wireless MirrorLink, auto dimming IRVM, ventilated front leather seats, a 7-speaker audio system, two-spoke multi function steering wheel, wireless charging, keyless entry and more.
In terms of safety, the new Skoda SUV offers multiple airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), anti-lock braking system (ABS), electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), rear parking sensors, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), rear view camera, Isofix child seat anchorages, multi collision brake and hill hold control. Some of its design highlights include LED projector headlamps, 17-inch alloy wheels, body cladding all around, wraparound LED taillamps, a roof spoiler and a faux diffuser.
