The new Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 cruiser motorcycle first broke cover at the EICMA 2022, which was followed by its India debut at the Rider Mania in Goa. The bike will be made available in two variants – Standard and Tourer. Both models derive power from by a 648cc, air and oil-cooled, parallel twin engine that churns out a peak power of 47bhp at 7,250rom and 52Nm of torque at 5,650rpm. It’s the same motor that does duty in the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650.
The bikemaker says that the engine of the RE Super Meteor 650 offers 80 percent of peak torque at 2,500rpm, thanks to its bespoke mapping and gearing. Transmission duties are done by a 6-speed constant mesh gearbox. The new Royal Enfield 650cc bike has a single 320mm disc at the front and a 300mm disc brake at the rear. The cruiser also gets dual-channel ABS (anti-lock braking system). Interestingly, the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 is the brand’s first bike to feature the Showa USD fork.
Royal Enfield has assembled the Super Meteor 650 with the 19-inch front and 16-inch rear alloy wheels and CEAT Zoom Cruz tyres. The bike features the retro-style circular headlamp and taillamps. It’s the first Royal Enfield to get full LED headlamp. It has sporty black finish on engine casings and head. Similar to the other RE bikes, the new 650cc cruiser has a teardrop-shaped fuel tank. The Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 measures 2260mm in length, 890mm (without mirrors) in width and 1155mm in height. It has seat height of 740mm and a ground clearance of 135mm. The cruiser’s wheelbase stands at 1500mm and it has a kerb weight of 241kg (with 90 percent fuel and oil). The new Royal Enfield 650cc bike offers a fuel tank capacity of 15.7-litres.
The Standard variant will be offered in Astral (Blue, Black and Green) and Interstellar (Green and Grey) colour schemes, while the Tourer will get Celestial paint schemes (Red and Blue). The new cruiser will be the third Royal Enfield bike in India to be built on the brand’s 650cc platform.
