Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 Vs Meteor 350 – Major Differences

Royal Enfield recently unveiled the Super Meteor 650 cruiser at the EICMA 2022. The bike will be launched in the European market during spring 2023. It will make its India debut at Royal Enfield’s Rider Mania event that will take place from 18th to 20th November in Goa. As the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 is the bigger and more powerful version of the RE Meteor 350, let’s compare and find out how does it differs from its smaller sibling.

Engine, Power

Major difference is the engine capacity. The Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 uses the 648cc, air/oil-cooled, parallel-twin engine that’s good enough for 47bhp and 52Nm. It’s the same unit that powers the RE 650cc twins. Though, the company uses the bespoke mapping and gearing for the Super Meteor 650 that provides 80% of peak torque at just 2,500rpm.

The Royal Enfield Meteor 350 comes with a 349cc, single-cylinder, fuel injected engine making 20.2bhp and 27Nm. The air-cooled motor has a balancer shaft to reduce vibrations at a greater extent and an oil circuit in the 2-valve head for better cooling.

Variants, Colours

The new RE Super Meteor 650 will be made available in two variants – Standard and Tourer. While the former will get Astral and Intersetllar colour schemes, the latter will come in Celestial colourways.

The RE Meteor 350 is being offered in three variants, namely Fireball, Stellar and Supernova. It can be had in 10 colour schemes – Fireball Yellow, Fireball Red, Blue Metallic, Black Matte, Red Metallic, Brown, Blue Dual-tone, Fireball Blue, Fireball Matt Green and Supernova Red.

Dimensions, Fuel Tank Capacity

Dimensionally, the Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 measures 2260mm in length, 890mm in width and 1155mm in height with a wheelbase of 1500mm. It has a wheelbase of 740mm and kerb weight of 241kg. The cruiser has a fuel tank capacity of 15.7-litres.

The overall length, width and height of the RE Meteor 350 stand at 2140mm, 845mm and 1140mm-1310mm respectively. It has a wheelbase 1500mm. The bike offers a seat height of 765mm and kerb weight of 191kg. Its fuel tank capacity stands at 15-litres. Compared to the smaller Meteor, the RE Super Meteor 650 has 25mm shorter seat height and 39kg heavier.

Suspension, Brakes, Tyres

The new Royal Enfield 650cc cruiser is the first RE bike to get a 43mm USD fork with 120mm of suspension travel. It’s 10mm less than the Meteor 350’s conventional telescopic fork unit.

While the smaller Meteor has a 300mm disc at the front and a 270mm disc brake at the rear, the RE Super Meteor 650 comes with a 320mm brake front and a 300mm rear disc brake. Both bikes get dual-channel ABS (anti-lock braking system).

The 650cc cruiser has been equipped with 19-inch front and 16-inch rear wheels with CEAT Zoom Cruze tyres. The RE Meteor 350 comes with 19-inch front and 17-inch rear tyres.

Design & Features

The Royal Enfield Super Meteor 650 is the brand’s first bike to come with the standard LED headlamp. The auxiliary lights have been offered as accessories for the first time. The cast aluminium switchgear gives a premium touch.

The cruiser also comes with anodised engine casting preventing the decolorization. Similar to the Meteor 350, the new 650cc cruiser gets a semi-digital console. Though, the latter one offers a tripper navigation pod as standard instead of as an accessory.
