Royal Enfield Preparing A New 750cc Bobber Motorcycle

Buoyed by excellent response for the Interceptor 650, Continental GT 650 and the new Super Meteor, Royal Enfield is now aiming to enter into the 750cc space by 2025. A new media report claims that the world’s largest midsize motorcycle manufacturer has started working on the development of a new platform codenamed R – which will be used to produce multiple 750cc motorcycles.

The first model to be based on the new platform will be a new 750cc Bobber motorcycle. Internally called the project codenamed R2G, the new RE 750cc Bobber is being developed after taking feedback from different markets including India, North America, Europe and the United Kingdom. The development work of the new motorcycle has been started at Royal Enfield’s tech centre in Leicester, UK. The new 750cc Bobber will be the flagship model in the RE’s line-up.

Royal Enfield will soon witness a rise in competition, as Harley and Triumph are ready to enter the entry-level midsize motorcycle segment. Harley Davidson in collaboration with Hero MotoCorp will launch the new X 440 retro bike, while Triumph-Bajaj JV will introduce two new bikes – the Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400 X in 2023.

Royal Enfield will continue to focus in the midsize motorcycles segment ranging from 350cc to 750cc. RE is currently selling motorcycles with engine capacity ranging from 350cc to 650cc. If the company develops a more premium product, then it is likely to be an all-electric model.

The new 750cc powertrain is likely to be a bigger capacity version of the twin-cylinder 650cc engine. The new powertrain is designed for several international markets including North America and Europe. The bigger capacity motorcycle will offer existing 350cc bike owners to upgrade to a more powerful bike in emerging markets. RE has been receiving an overwhelming response in international markets including Europe.

Not just 750cc bike, Royal Enfield is also developing a new 450cc single-cylinder petrol engine. This engine will soon debut in the new Himalayan 450 adventure bike. If reports are to be believed, the company is also developing multiple bikes on the new 450cc platform.
