Royal Enfield 650cc Meteor And Classic In The Works

Royal Enfield is working on multiple new motorcycles, which will be launched in India in the next couple of years. The company will expand its 650cc motorcycles range, which currently comprises of Interceptor INT 650 and the Continental GT 650. Royal Enfield is aggressively testing a new 650cc cruiser motorcycle.

The 650cc cruiser will be based on the same platform as the Interceptor and Continental 650. Interestingly, the brand is also testing two differently looking motorcycles. These bikes are expected to be called the Royal Enfield Meteor 650 and the Classic 650. The new 650cc bikes have recently been caught testing.

While the 650cc cruiser has low-slung styling and ergonomics, the spotted models have taller stance and upright ergonomics. The Meteor 650cc motorcycle has a tail-section similar to the Meteor 350’s rear end. The motorcycle gets round LED tail-lamp with round indicators. The pillion seat and grab rails seems identical to the 350cc Meteor. Two versions of the Meteor 650 was caught testing with one of them had blacked-out rear fender. This variant had windscreen and crash guards. The other model had chrome-finished fender.

The spotted models had twin exhausts and were reportedly cruising at 120-130kmph. This suggests that the new motorcycles were equipped with RE’s 650cc engine. This twin-cylinder engine is capable of producing 47bhp of power and 52Nm of torque. Royal Enfield is expected to tune this engine to suit the needs of a cruiser motorcycle.

The new motorcycles will be equipped with upside down front forks and twin shock absorbers at the rear. The bikes will ride on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels. For braking, the bikes will get disc brakes at both ends and dual-channel ABS as standard. The new motorcycles will feature semi-digital instrument console, slipper clutch with Assist, and the Tripper Navigation system.
