The French automaker, Renault is working on multiple new products for the Indian market. The company will introduce the Kwid electric in our market in 2024-25. Adding to it, a new B-segment SUV to rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara and others is also under development. The new B-segment SUV is most likely to be the 3rd generation Duster SUV, which is reportedly to make global debut sometime in 2024.
Not just the new Kwid EV & the Duster, Renault will also give major updates to its existing products including the Kwid, Kiger and the Triber. All three models will receive significant design changes and an upgraded interior. The updated versions of the Renault Kwid, Kiger and Triber are scheduled to be launched in 2024. The new models will also see improvements in safety quotient, as the company is planning to introduce 6 airbags as standard.
The Triber 3-row MPV is expected to receive more features along with a more powerful engine. It is likely to get a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that powers the Kiger. This engine churns out 99bhp and 160Nm of torque. Adding to it, a CVT gearbox option is also expected to be added in the Triber line-up.
The Kwid EV (Dacia Spring) features a 26.8kWh Li-ion battery pack and claims to offer a certified range of 225km on a single charge. It features a single electric motor on the front axle that delivers 45bhp and 125Nm. The Kwid EV in India will rival the likes of the MG Comet and the Tata Tiago EV. Adding to it, Renault is also working on the electrified version of the Kiger SUV.
The next-gen Duster is expected to be launched in our market in 2025. Testing of the new Duster has already been started by Dacia in Europe. It will grow in size and will be based on the new CMF-B modular architecture. Moreover, Renault India will also introduce a new 7-seater SUV based on the new CMF-B platform. Renault has confirmed that its line-up in India will include petrol, e20 and electric powertrains. The new Duster could receive a petrol engine, while an EV version could join the line-up in future.
