Renault India To Launch New Duster & Bigster Sized 7-Seater SUV

French automaker, Renault is working on 3 new models for the Indian market. Renault-Nissan alliance has announced to invest 5300 crore in India to produce around 6 new models including EVs & SUVs in the country. Renault will launch 2 new SUVs and an all-new electric vehicle in the country.

The company will launch a new SUV in the C-segment, which will be positioned against the likes of the Tata Harrier, 5-seater Mahindra XUV700 and the Hyundai Creta. This new SUV will also receive a new 7-seater derivative of this SUV, which will challenge the likes of the Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar and the Mahindra XUV700. Renault has already confirmed that it will bring the CMF-B modular platform to India. Moreover, the alliance’s electric version of the CMF-A platform will also be introduced in our market.

The CMF-B modular platform will be used to produce the next-gen Duster SUV for the Indian market. The third-gen Renault Duster will arrive in our market by 2024-25. The new platform will also be used to produce a new 7-seater SUV in the country. Renault had showcased the 3-row Dacia Bigster concept, which is based on the CMF-B platform. It is expected that the production version of the Bigster SUV will be launched under the Renault badge in the country.

The Renault CMF-A electric platform will need heavy localisation, as the product based on this platform will rival the Tata Motors and Hyundai. Renault hasn’t revealed the technical details of the two SUVs. The company is likely to introduce the new SUVs with petrol engine option. However, the company could also introduce the strong hybrid and Plug-in Hybrid versions of the SUVs in our market.

The CMF-B has an electric derivative called the CMF-B EV architecture and this will allow the Renault-Nissan alliance to produce electric vehicles locally in future. This platform will be future-proof and will be compliant with existing and upcoming safety norms. It will also support electrification, including hybrid and EV powertrains.
