RE Meteor 350 Cheaper Than Honda CB350 – 9 Key Points

The long-awaited Royal Enfield Meteor 350 cruiser motorcycle has finally been launched in the Indian market. The new model comes as a replacement for the discontinued Thunderbird 350X. The new RE Meteor 350 is available in 3 variants – Fireball, Stellar and Supernova. It directly rivals the newly launched Honda H’ness CB350.

1. RE Meteor 350 Variant-Wise Prices

The new cruiser from Royal Enfield comes at a starting price of Rs 1.76 lakh and goes up to Rs 1.90 lakh. This makes it cheaper than the Honda H’ness CB350, which is priced at Rs 1.85 lakh – Rs 1.90 lakh.

2. RE Meteor 350 Engine Specs

Powering the new Meteor 350 is a 349cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine with an OHC design. This single-cylinder engine churns out 20.2bhp of power at 6,100rpm and a peak torque of 27Nm at 4,000rpm. Power is transmitted to the rear wheel via a 6-speed gearbox.

3. Braking & Suspension

For braking, the motorcycle gets 370mm front disc and 270mm rear disc. The cruiser bike also gets dual-channel ABS (Anti-Lock Braking System) as standard. The size of disc brakes are bigger than the one offered on the Thunderbird 350. Based on the double cradle frame, the new Meteor 350 cruiser gets telescopic front forks and twin shock absorbers at the rear.

4. Competition

The new motorcycle is positioned above the Classic 350 in the Royal Enfield lineup. It directly rivals the newly launched Honda H’ness CB350, Jawa 300 and the Benelli Imperiale 400. TVS Motor Company is also readying a cruiser motorcycle, Zeppelin R, while Bajaj-Triumph JV will introduce a cruiser bike in 2021-22.

5. Colour Options

The Royal Enfield Meteor 350’s entry-level Fireball variant is offered in two colour options – Fireball Yellow and Fireball Red. The Stellar variant is available in 3 paint schemes – Red Metallic, Black White and Blue Metallic. The top-spec Supernova variant is offered in 2 colour options – Brown and Blue dual-tone paint schemes.

6. New J Platform

The new-gen RE Meteor 350 is based on the brand’s new ‘J’ architecture, which is a double-craddle frame. This platform will also underpin a wide range of new RE bikes including the next-gen Classic 350.

The motorcycle comes with a cruiser stance, featuring low seat, high set handle bars and forward set foot pegs for comfortable upright seating position. In terms of features, the bike gets circular headlamp with LED DRL, a USB charger, a swooping rear fender, a peanut-shaped fuel tank, LED tail-lamp and a large windscreen.

8. ‘Tripper Navigation’

The motorcycle comes with turn-by-turn navigation. It is fitted with a semi-digital instrument console with an analogyue speedometer and LCD display. The console has Bluetooth connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation function, which company calls the Tripper Navigation. This has been developed in association with Google Maps. 

9. Wheels

The motorcycle rides on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels wrapped in 100/90 and 140/70 section tyres respectively.
