Production-Ready Honda N7X 7-Seat SUV Debut In November 2021

Japanese automaker, Honda will present the production version of the N7X 7-seater SUV in November 2021. The SUV will first go on sale in Indonesia, followed by other South Asian markets. It will be presented at the 2021 GIIAS (Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show), which will be held in November this year.

The GIIAS was scheduled to happen in August this year; however, the event delayed two times due to COVID-19 pandemic. Honda officials have said that the car has received positive response from public.

Few media reports claim that the production version of the Honda 7X concept could be the next-gen Honda BR-V. Internally called the DG3, the new model is reportedly to come in multiple variants. The SUV will be positioned against the Toyota Avanza, Daihatsu Xenia and others. The 3-Row SUV will share the platform and mechanical bits with the City sedan. Honda claims that the new model will offer the best of SUV and MPV body styles, and will be suitable for all type of road conditions.

Indonesian media claims that the new Honda N7X will be offered with a 1.5-litre 4-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol engine that also powers the City sedan. This engine churns out 121bhp of power and 145Nm of torque. Transmission options could include a 6-speed manual and a CVT automatic.

It is yet to be announced whether the new model will get the hybrid powertrain, which powers the City sedan in select Southeast Asian markets. Rumours also suggest that the SUV could also get the new 121bhp, 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with CVT automatic gearbox. However, Honda Indonesia is yet to make an official statement.

The Honda N7X 7-seater concept looks closer to production model, as it gets SUV-ish profile with sloping roof. It comes with raised bonnet, thick chrome bar on the signature front grille, LED headlamps, dual-LED DRLs setup, wider air-dam and a faux skid plate and brushed aluminium inserts. The new SUV has large glasshouse area, strong beltline, round wheel arches with black plastic cladding, and split LED tail-lamps. Interiors of the new Honda N7X will have similarities with the City sedan.
