Electric car manufacturer BYD had launched the Seal electric sedan on March 5, 2025. The electric vehicle is available in 3 variants – Dynamic, Premium and Performance – priced at Rs 41 lakh, Rs 45.55 lakh and Rs 53 lakh, respectively. The company has received over 500 bookings for the BYD Seal EV in less than a month.
Commenting on the bookings, Sanjay Gopalakrishnan, Senior Vice President of Electric Passenger Vehicle Business, BYD India, said, “We are confident of our product, of our pricing and are pleased to see the response it has generated in the market. We did hit the 200 bookings mark soon after launch, and within 15 days, we have registered 500 bookings.”
Customers can book the new BYD Seal electric sedan online or at authorised dealership by paying a token amount of Rs 1.25 lakh. Customers who will book the Seal EV before March 31, 2024 will get additional services such as free installation of home charger, a 3kW portable charging box and 6 years RSA (roadside assistance).
The BYD Seal electric sedan is available with two battery options – 61.44kWh and 82.56kWh. The smaller battery pack with a single motor positioned on the rear axle, which is rated at 204hp and 310Nm of torque. It is claimed to offer a range of 510km in a single charge.
The larger 82.5kWh battery pack equipped with SEAL is offered in both RWD and AWD configurations. In single motor RWD guise, the BYD Seal EV produces 312hp and 360Nm of torque. The power and torque output increases to 530hp and 670Nm, respectively in the dual-motor AWD system. The RWD version is claimed to offer a range of 650km in a single charge, while the AWD version returns 580km of range. The BYD Seal AWD variant is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph acceleration in just 3.8 seconds.
