JSW MG Motor To Launch A New Car Every 3-6 Months

SAIC Motor and JSW Group have announced the business roadmap for their new strategic joint venture – JSW MG Motor India Pvt. Ltd. The company said that it is “committed to bringing in the best of innovation across its business operations, introducing world-class technology, strengthening the manufacturing landscape, generating significant employment opportunities and offering smart and sustainable products focused on customer-centricity.
 
JSW MG Motor India has also confirmed that it plans to launch a new product, including NEV, every three to six months, beginning this festive season. The company will launch two new products in the country this calendar year. Adding to it, the Joint Venture will expand its production capacity in Halol, Gujarat, with a focus on producing EVs. This will significantly increase the production capacity from the current 1,00,000 plus to up to 3,00,000 vehicles annually.

JSW MG Motor India will also set up an R&D centre to cater to the different choices of car buyers. The new R&D centre will develop connected, new-age and local mobility solutions, giving automobile customers better access to advanced technologies and futuristic products with attractive value propositions.

By 2030, JSW MG Motor India aims to take a leadership position in the NEV category with an extensive portfolio comprising New Energy Vehicles. The company is currently utilising over 60% of its energy requirements for its manufacturing operations at Halol (Gujarat) from renewable resources and is working towards becoming Carbon Neutral by 2029.

If reports are to be believed, MG will introduce the Wuling Cloud EV based electric MPV in the Indian market this year. Likely to be priced under Rs 15 lakh, the new MG electric MPV will be positioned between the Comet EV and the ZS EV. It is packed with a 50.6kWh lithium-ion battery pack and a front-axle mounted permanent magnet synchronous electric motor that offers 134hp and 240Nm of torque. It is claimed to offer a range of up to 505km.

Adding to it, JSW MG Motor India will also launch a new compact electric SUV before the end of this financial year. The electric SUV is likely to be based on the Baojun Yep Plus 5-door electric crossover which is currently on sale in China.
