The BYD Seal electric sedan has finally been launched in India, with prices starting at Rs 41 lakh. The model lineup consists of three variants – Dynamic, Premium, and Performance – priced at Rs 41 lakh, Rs 45.55 lakh, and Rs 53 lakh respectively (all prices ex-showroom, India). Bookings for the EV have begun with an initial deposit of Rs 1.25 lakh, applicable until March 31st, 2024. Additionally, buyers are being offered extra services including a 3kW portable charging box, free home charger installation, and 6 years of roadside assistance. The Seal EV is imported as a Completely Built Up (CBU) unit and then assembled at the carmaker’s facility in Chennai.

BYD Seal Range and Battery
The Dynamic variant is equipped with a 61.4kWh battery and a single (RWD) electric motor mounted on the rear axle, delivering 204bhp and 310Nm of torque, with a claimed range of 510km (NEDC cycle). The Premium Range variant features an 82.5kWh battery pack paired with a single electric motor and RWD, offering 312bhp, 360Nm of torque, and a range of 650km. The top-end Performance variant boasts an 82.5kWh battery with dual electric motors and AWD, delivering a range of 580km, with peak power reaching 560PS and torque of 670Nm. The Performance variant accelerates from 0 to 100kmph in just 3.8 seconds.
BYD Seal Charging Options
The Seal EV is equipped with a regular 11kW AC charger, capable of fully charging the battery in 8.6 hours. It can also charge at speeds of up to 150kW, achieving a 10 – 80 percent charge in 37 minutes. Additionally, the Seal EV supports V2L (Vehicle To Load) charging capabilities. The company offers an 8-year/160,000km warranty on the battery and an 8-year/150,000km warranty on the motor and motor controller unit.

The Seal EV offers an array of features, including a rotating 15.6-inch infotainment system, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, Head-Up Display (HUD), and a center console with a crystal toggle drive selector and physical controls for functions like audio system volume and heated windscreen.
Rear seats feature a 60:40 split-folding function, alongside ADAS tech, an 8-way electronically adjustable driver’s seat with memory, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, dual-zone AC, leatherette upholstery, 4-way power lumbar adjustment for the driver’s seat, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, panoramic glass roof, powered and climatic front seats, auto-dimming IRVM, and more.
Standard safety features include 10 airbags, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, electronic parking brake with auto hold, electronic stability control, hill hold assist, traction control, all-wheel disc brakes, Isofix child seat anchorage, rain-sensing wipers, and rear defogger.
