Over 29,000 Tata SUVs Sold In May – What’s New Coming In?

The month of May proved profitable for Tata Motors as the company registered a YoY growth of 6 percent in the domestic market and 108 percent in exports. The carmaker retailed 45,878 passenger vehicles in May 2023 against 43,341 units in the same previous year. The exports witnessed a strong growth with 106 units as opposed to 51 units in May 2022. Tata’s total sales figure stood at 74,973 units as against 76,210 units in the corresponding month last year, accounting a YoY decline of 2 percent.

Talking about the SUV segment, Tata Motors sells four models – Punch, Nexon, Harrier and Safari. Last month, the company managed to retail total of 29,626 SUVs including 14,423 units of the Nexon, 11,124 units of the Punch mini SUV, 2,303 units of the Harrier and 1,776 units of the Safari. While the Nexon, Harrier and Safari registered minor MoM sales decline, the Punch recorded MoM increase of 9 percent.

What’s New From Tata?

This year, the carmaker is ready to bring in the updated versions of the Nexon, Harrier and Safari SUVs. The launch plan also includes the electric iteration of the Punch micro SUV. Rumour has it that the 2023 Tata Nexon facelift will arrive in August with noticeable cosmetic changes and feature upgrades. It could be the first Tata in India to get paddle shifters. There will also be a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, updated instrument cluster, a new two-spoke, Curvv-inspired flat-bottom steering wheel with illuminated logo in the centre, etc. Read: Tata Nexon, Altroz Diesel Will Discontinue; Nexon CNG On Cards

The 2023 Tata Harrier and Safari SUVs will hit roads near around Diwali season. Both SUVs will receive ADAS tech along with the new touchscreen infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity and a new instrument cluster. The 170bhp, 2.0L turbo diesel will remain intact. Though, the updated Harrier and Safari will receive a new 170bhp, 1.5L turbo petrol engine.
