Over 25 Lakh Maruti Dzire Sold So Far; New-Gen Model In 2024

Maruti Suzuki’s Dzire compact sedan has achieved a remarkable milestone by selling over 25 lakh units in India since its introduction in 2008. This achievement solidifies its status as the highest-selling sedan in the country. The journey to this significant sales figure includes several milestones:

The Dzire crossed the 1 lakh sales milestone in FY2009-10.
It reached 5 lakh units sold in FY2012-13.
The 10 lakh sales mark was surpassed in FY2015-16.
The Dzire achieved over 20 lakh sales by FY2019-20.

The Maruti Dzire is currently available with a 1.2L petrol engine and two gearbox options: a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT (Automated Manual Transmission). The petrol engine produces a peak power of 89bhp at 6,000rpm and 113Nm of torque at 4,400rpm. Additionally, there’s a CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) variant of the compact sedan, which generates 76bhp and 98.5Nm of torque with a 5-speed manual transmission. The Dzire’s versatility in terms of fuel options and its consistently strong sales performance have contributed to its popularity in the Indian automotive market.

2020 Maruti Dzire Changes

Maruti Suzuki is gearing up for a significant generational update to the Maruti Dzire in early 2024. According to reports, the all-new Dzire will be equipped with a new 1.2L, 3-cylinder petrol engine that benefits from Toyota’s strong hybrid technology. This hybrid powertrain is expected to deliver an ARAI-rated fuel efficiency of approximately 35-40 kmpl, making it one of the most fuel-efficient cars in the country.

This same powertrain setup will also be offered on the new-generation Maruti Swift hatchback, set to debut in February 2025. The hybrid powertrain in the new Dzire will align with CAFÉ II (Corporate Average Fuel Economy) standards and will be available with both manual and AMT gearboxes. The upcoming Dzire is anticipated to undergo comprehensive changes to both its interior and exterior. It may feature a more angular design, along with updates like the SmartPlay Pro+ touchscreen infotainment system with wireless smartphone connectivity, Suzuki voice assist, and over-the-air (OTA) updates.
