Maruti Suzuki is aggressively working to strengthen its SUV market in the country. The company has already introduced the new-generation Brezza with significant cosmetic, feature and mechanical upgrades. In the month of September, the Indo-Japanese automaker is ready to roll out the much-awaited Maruti Grand Vitara mid-size SUV to challenge the Hyundai Creta. Both SUVs gathered over 100,000 bookings so far. The company received 75,000 bookings for the new Brezza and 26,000 for the soon-to-be-launched Grand Vitara.
Speaking to ET Auto, Shashank Srivastava, Senior Executive Director, said that the company has been receiving overwhelming response for both of its new SUVs. More than half of the pre-bookings for the Maruti Grand Vitara are for the strong hybrid tech variant. Based on Suzuki’s Global-C platform, the mid-size SUV will be made available with the 1.5L K15C Dualjet petrol with Smart Hybrid tech and 1.5L TNGA petrol with Intelligent Hybrid tech powertrain options. Both manual and automatic gearboxes will be on offer.
The AllGrip AWD system, which will be available with manual gearbox only, offers 4 driving modes – Auto, Sand, Snow and Lock. The company has confirmed that the manual FWD variant will deliver fuel efficiency of 21.1kmpl, automatic FWD model will promise 20.58kmpl and manual AWD version will be good for 19.38kmpl.
In other updates, Maruti Suzuki is reported to unveil its all-new Coupe SUV (codenamed YTB) at the 2023 Delhi Auto Expo. The auto event is scheduled to happen in January. The model will be designed on Suzuki’s Heartect platform and come with the Boosterjet turbocharged petrol engine. Rumour has it that the new Maruti YTB Coupe SUV might also be offered with the electric powertrain. It will be sold via Maruti Suzuki’s premium Nexa dealership network.
