Maruti YTB SUV Coupe Launch In Feb 2023; Boosterjet Engine, NEXA

Maruti Suzuki has recently launched the new Brezza sub-4 meter SUV with multiple segment-leading features and upgraded interior. The company is all set to launch the new Grand Vitara SUV in September 2022. MSIL Is also working on an all-new coupe SUV, codenamed YTB for the Indian market. The Maruti YTB Coupe SUV is also referred as the Baleno Cross.

The Maruti YTB SUV Coupe has been spotted testing for the first time. It is reportedly to be unveiled at the 2023 Delhi Auto Expo in January. The SUV Coupe is expected to be launched before the end of FY23 – that’s before March 2023. Maruti Suzuki is also reportedly to unveil the new 5-door LWB Jimny at the 2023 Auto Expo.

The Maruti Suzuki YTB Coupe SUV will be the production version of the Futuro-e concept, which was unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo. The spotted model was fully covered in thick cloth, revealing minimal design details. The front fascia of the SUV Coupe has headlamps and daytime running lamps similar to the recently unveiled the Grand Vitara. The sloping roofline and raked windscreen shows a clear SUV-coupe design.

The grille design also seems identical to the Grand Vitara; however, it has chrome studded elements and thinner chrome surround. The SUV Coupe has split headlamp set-up with sharp LED DRLs on top and main LED headlamp on lower bumper. The lower bumper has wider air-dam. It gets squarish wheel arches and diamond-cut alloys along with ORVMs with integrated LED indicators.

The new Maruti YTB SUV-Coupe is reportedly to be based on Maruti Suzuki’s HEARTECT platform that underpins the new Baleno. The report claims that the new model will be powered by Suzuki’s Boosterjet turbo-petrol engine. For people not in the know, Maruti Suzuki had briefly introduced the 1.0L Boosterjet engine in the Baleno RS. With the SUV Coupe, MSIL will bring back its turbo petrol power. The new Brezza is powered by a 1.5-litre K15C naturally-aspirated petrol engine with manual and automatic gearbox. The new Boosterjet petrol engine will also come with a higher degree of electrification.

Maruti YTB SUV Coupe Launch Timeline

The report claims that the new SUV-Coupe will be launched in February 2023, while its global debut will take place at the 2023 Delhi Auto Expo in January. The new model will be positioned above the Baleno hatchback and it will be sold through Maruti’s NEXA premium dealership network. Toyota is also likely to introduce its own version of the YTB SUV Coupe in the country.
