Nissan X-Trail SUV In India – Launch In 2024?

In October 2022, Nissan introduced its three globally renowned SUVs in the Indian market – namely the new X-Trail, Qashqai, and Juke. Notably, the carmaker officially confirmed the availability of the X-Trail in India, withholding information about its specific launch timeline. On the other hand, the Qashqai and Juke were stated to be under “evaluation” for India, a scenario reminiscent of previous claims by the Japanese automaker that have yet to materialize. However, recent sightings of the Nissan X-Trail SUV on Indian roads have sparked intrigue. Currently, there is no official announcement regarding its launch date or specifications, though a media report suggests a potential launch in the coming year. Should the X-Trail find its way to India, it will enter the premium SUV segment, competing with vehicles like the Skoda Kodiaq, Toyota Fortuner, and Volkswagen Tiguan. The latest iteration of the X-Trail is built on the Renault-Nissan CMF-C platform and globally offered with two engine options – a 2.5L petrol and a 1.5L turbo petrol with mild hybrid technology. An interesting aspect to watch is whether Nissan will introduce its e-Power range-extender hybrid technology in India. Notably, strong hybrid vehicles like the Toyota Innova Hycross and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara have enjoyed success in recent times.
