Nissan To Unveil A New Car On 18th October – Leaf Electric?

Nissan India has sent a ‘block your date’ invite that says, ‘Move Beyond’. The Japanese automaker will make an announcement at an event in Delhi on 18th October, 2022. While the company remains tight lipped about the upcoming new model, it’s likely to be an electric vehicle (EV). At present, Nissan sells Magnite subcompact SUV and Kick compact SUV that cost Rs 5.97 lakh – Rs 10.79 lakh and Rs 9.50 lakh – Rs 14.90 lakh respectively (all, ex-showroom).

For people not in the know, Nissan has been using ‘Move Beyond’ slogan for its new breed vehicles especially for the EVs. Speculations are on rife that the company might unveil the Nissan Leaf electric car for the Indian market. The model was last spotted testing here in 2019, followed by in April, 2022.

The Leaf is the globally renowned electric car from the Japanese automaker. It comes with a 40kWh Li-ion battery pack and an EM57 electric motor. The setup delivers a claimed power of 146bhp and 320Nm of torque. The Nissan Leaf range stands at 240km (NEDC cycle) on a single charge. In terms of features, the Nissan Leaf offers an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with NissanConnect technology and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone connectivity. The unit also supports navigation and Bluetooth connectivity. It has an e-Pedal system that enables driver to accelerate, decelerate and stop the vehicle ushing just one pedal. The electric car has been equipped with ProPILOT technology and driver assistance features such as Intelligent emergency braking, Intelligent lane intervention and Intelligent cruise control.

Even if Leaf EV is on India launch radar, the model is likely to imported via CBU (Completely Built Up) route.
