Nissan Magnite Production Starts In Chennai – New Pictures

Production of the upcoming Nissan Magnite subcompact SUV is underway at the carmaker’s Chennai-based plant. The compact SUV might also be exported to markets such as South Africa, Indonesia, Bhutan, Nepal and Sir Lanka. In India, the Magnite will see a release next month and its deliveries will begin in December, 2020.

While its official prices will be announced in November, it’s estimated to cost as low as Rs 5.25 lakh for the base variant. If it happens, the Magnite will undercut all its rivals. The upcoming Nissan compact SUV has been built on CMF-A modular platform and designed especially for the Indian market.

On the engine front, the Nissan Magnite will receive the naturally aspirated and turbocharged version of the 1.0L, 3-cylinder petrol engine. While the former will deliver power around 72bhp, the latter will be good enough for 95bhp. The model lineup will come with three gearbox options – manual (standard), AMT (NA petrol only) and X-Tronic CVT automatic (turbo petrol only). The CVT automatic unit, with mirror bore cylinder with coating technology, will provide smoother acceleration and better fuel economy.
