Nissan Magnite Prices Announced; Undercuts Tata Nexon

Nissan Magnite, the new sub-4 metre SUV from the Japanese carmaker, has finally arrived in the Indian market. The model lineup comes in four trims – XE, XL, XV and XV Premium – priced from Rs 4.99 lakh to Rs 9.35 lakh (all, ex-showroom). At this price point, it undercuts most of its rivals including the Tata Nexon that costs between Rs 6.99 lakh – Rs 12.70 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Magnite compact SUV has been offered with two petrol engine options – a 1.0-litre, naturally aspirated (72bhp/96Nm) and a 1.0-liter, turbocharged (100bhp/152Nm). While a 5-speed manual gearbox is standard across the lineup, a CVT automatic transmission is reserved for the turbo-petrol variants.

Magnite Performance

One must note that the torque figure of the turbo-petrol automatic variant drops to 152Nm. On the fuel efficiency front, the Magnite 1.0L naturally-aspirated petrol offers 18.75kmpl and turbo-petrol delivers 20kmpl with manual and 17.7kmpl with automatic gearbox. Compared to its arch rivals – Kia Sonet (1.0L iMT and DCT) and Hyundai Venue (1.oL MT, iMT and DCT), the new Nissan compact SUV is slightly less frugal. Nissan is offering 4 monotone and 4 dual-tone paint schemes with the Magnite. The monotone shades include Blade Silver, Onyx Black, Sandstone Brown and Storm White. The dual-tone colours are Flare Garnet Red with Onyx Black, Tourmaline Brown with Onyx Black, Pearl White with Onyx Black and Vivid Blue with Storm White. The compact SUV’s overall length, width and height stand at 3,998mm, 1,758mm and 1,572mm respectively. It has a 2,500mm long wheelbase.

The new Nissan Magnite comes equipped with several class-leading features including an Around View Monitor (AVM) and full 7.0-inch TFT instrument cluster with built-in tyre pressure monitor and ‘welcome animation’. For connectivity purpose, there is an 8.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and built-in voice recognition. The compact SUV comes with Nissan Connect technology that offers over 50 features.

Customers can also opt ‘Tech Pack’ with the higher variants (at an additional price) that includes features such as air purifier, JBL high-end speakers, wireless charger, ambient lighting, puddle lamps and LED scuff plates. With respect to safety, the Nissan Magnite offers hill start assist, vehicle dynamic control, traction control, SRS dual airbags, anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic brakeforce distribution (EBD), and anti-roll bar for tight cornering at high speeds.
