Next-gen Hyundai Kona Crossover Spied; Looks Bigger

Hyundai had introduced the Kona crossover in the global markets in late 2017. The crossover received a mid-life facelift for 2021; however, Hyundai has already started working on the next gen Kona. The next-gen Hyundai Kona crossover has been spotted testing for the first time. The spy images reveal that the new model will come with significant changes over the outgoing model.

The spotted model was heavily covered in camouflage with distorting cladding. However, it is clear that the new model is significantly larger than the current model. While the size will be increased, the overall profile is likely to remain largely unchanged.

Next-gen Hyundai Kona Rear Spied

The next-gen Hyundai Kona will retain the brand’s split-headlamp design set-up. It is likely to get vertical lower lamps, which will be similar to the one offered in models like the Palisade and Tucson. The heavy camouflage manages to hide rest of the details.

Engine details are yet to be revealed; however, the spotted model was equipped with Internal Combustion Engine. It is expected that the next-gen Hyundai Kona will continue to be offered with a variety of powertrains including hybrid and electric. The new model is also likely to be offered N-Line and N variants.

Next-gen Hyundai Kona Interior Spied

The interior of the SUV was fully covered; however, it shows that the vehicle will have a digital instrument console and a large touchscreen infotainment unit sitting on the dashboard. The new model is currently in the early stages of development. It is expected to be introduced sometime in 2023. The new Kona could also replace the i30 family in Europe.

In India, Hyundai is selling the Kona EV as a CKD model. The company is preparing to launch the updated version of the Kona EV in the next few months. The new model will receive design changes, upgraded interior and a bigger battery pack.
