New Volkswagen Polo GTI Facelift Design Sketch Released

Volkswagen had unveiled the facelifted Polo for the global markets in May 2021. The company has now officially announced to unveil the new Volkswagen Polo GTI facelift in June 2021. Ahead of the global debut, the German automaker has released the first design sketch of the Polo GTI.

The design sketch reveals a very sporty Polo GTI, which is basically the sportier version of the regular Polo. It will be based on the same MQB AO modular platform that underpins the new-gen Polo hatchback. It will sit above 4 meters in length, and will measure around 4.05 meters in length, 1.75 meters in width and 1.45 meters in height. The wheelbase is expected to be similar to the regular Polo at 2.56 meters.

The new Polo GTI is labeled as “sharper, dynamic, power-packed”, and it retains the traditional red accents of Grand Touring injection models. It comes fitted with LED DRLs integrated into the honeycomb air intakes. There is ared strip above the light bar, which is similar to the one offered in the Golf GTI.

The pre-facelift version of the VW Polo GTI was offered with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that produces 197bhp of power and 320Nm of torque. A six-speed manual gearbox was offered earlier. However, the new model will get the 6-speed DSG automatic. The hatchback is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph in just 6.7 seconds before hitting a top speed of 237kmph.

The new Volkswagen Polo GTI facelift will continue to be offered with a high-torque front-wheel-drive setup along with a dynamically tuned sports chassis. The car is expected to offer sporty driving dynamics along with comfort of everyday driving.
