New Tata Tigor Electric With Ziptron Powertrain Unveiled; Bookings Open

Tata Motors has officially introduced the new Tigor Electric, which is now equipped with the brand’s new Ziptron EV powertrain. Interested buyers can pre-book the new Tata Tigor EV online. The company has officially announced that the prices of the sedan will be revealed on August 31, 2021.

For people not in the know, Tata has recently launched the electric version of the Tigor facelift with a new name – the Xpres-T EV. This model is only available for fleet buyers. This model uses the old Electra 72V architecture and features a 21.5kWh battery pack. This model offers a range of up to 213km on a single charge.

New Tata Tigor Electric Interior

The new Tata Tigor electric is aimed at private car buyers, and offers better power and range. It is fitted with the Ziptron powertrain tech that also powers the Nexon EV. The advanced Ziptron high-voltage 300V+ architecture features a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor, which is superior technology compared to the existing Xpres-T’s 72V AC induction-type motor.

The new Tata Tigor Electric comes fitted with a 55kW electric motor and a 26kWh lithium-ion battery pack. This powertrain offers 74bhp (55kW) of power and 170Nm of torque. It is claimed to offer 0 to 60kmph acceleration in just 5.9 seconds. This is significantly higher than the one offered by Xpres-T powertrain, which offers 41hp and 105Nm of torque.

The company hasn’t announced the range of the new Tigor electric. Tata had said that the Ziptron powertrain equipped vehicles will offer a minimum range of 250km. It is expected that the new Tigor EV will offer a range between 250km to 300km.

The Tata Tigor EV comes fitted with a IP 67 rated battery pack. The company also offers 8 years and 160000km battery and motor warranty. It gets impact resistant battery pack casing. The Tigor electric battery can be charged from 0 to 180% in about 1 hour using fast charging, and around 8.5 hours using standard home charger. The Ziptron tech also allows for regenerative braking system.

The sedan gets automatic gearbox with drive and sport modes as standard. It gets 7-inch Harman touchscreen infotainment system with 4 speakers and 4 tweeters. The sedan gets connected car tech with 30 features such as geofencing, remote features, etc. It comes with electrically adjustable ORVMs, height adjustable driver’s seat, smart key with push button start, portable charging, 316-litres boot space, automatic climate control, puncture kit, etc. The sedan gets dual airbags, ABS with EBD, corner stability control, hill ascent and descent assist.
