The Korean automaker Kia had launched the Seltos midsize SUV in the Indian market in 2019. The SUV is all set to receive comprehensive changes in terms of styling and interior along with a new powertrain option. Not just the Seltos, Kia will also launch the updated version of the Sonet sub-4 meter SUV in the country. Both SUVs will be launched before the end of this financial year.
New Kia Seltos Facelift – Launch By July/August 2023
The updated Kia Seltos is already on sale in several international markets since mid-2022. The new model is expected to be launched in our market by June or July this year. It will come with comprehensive design changes, which will be in-line with the global model. The SUV will have new Kia’s Tiger Nose grille, new bumper and a newly styled headlamp setup with revised LED daytime running lamps merging into the grille. The rear profile will also receive several styling changes including the revised tailgate. It will come with new LED tail-lamps that are connected by a light bar. The SUV will have revised tailgate and a dual-tone bumper with faux silver inserts.
Inside the cabin, the new Kia Seltos facelift will come with revised dashboard layout with an updated centre console. It will come with a new connected, twin-screen layout for a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment screen and a digital instrument console. It will also receive a panoramic sunroof, which is missing in the outgoing model. The company could also receive new seat upholstery and new colour theme. It is also expected to receive ADAS tech with features like autonomous emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, lane assist and others. The SUV will retain the existing 1.5L NA petrol and a 1.5L turbo diesel engines. The new Seltos will come with a new 1.5-litre 4-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine that produces 160bhp and 253Nm of torque.
New Kia Sonet – Launch By Year-End
Kia had launched the Sonet sub-4 meter SUV in March 2021. It has been one of the best selling SUVs in its segment. The new Kia Sonet is reportedly to be launched by December 2023. The new Kia Sonet facelift has been spotted testing couple of times on the Indian roads. The test mules were heavily camouflaged; however, the new SUV are expected to receive major design changes in the front and rear. The styling could share resemblance with the upcoming new Seltos facelift.
The interior is also likely to come with major changes with a new set of high-end features. The SUV will get a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with improved interface and connected car tech. The SUV will continue to be offered with the existing engine options – a 1.2-litre petrol, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine options.
