New Tata Harrier, Safari Mileage Improved Marginally

Tata Motors has disclosed another significant detail about the upcoming facelifts for the Harrier and Safari models. It has been confirmed that both SUVs will retain the tried-and-tested 170bhp, 2.0-liter diesel engine, paired with 6-speed manual and automatic transmissions.

The revised Tata Harrier, whether in manual or automatic guise, is touted to deliver improved fuel efficiency figures of 16.80kmpl and 14.60kmpl, respectively. This represents an enhancement over the previous version, which offered 16.35kmpl for the manual and maintained the same 14.60kmpl for the automatic. Turning our attention to the refreshed Tata Safari, it is reported to achieve a fuel economy of 16.30kmpl with the manual gearbox and 14.50kmpl with the automatic variant. These figures mark a noticeable improvement over the pre-facelift version, with an increase of approximately 0.14kmpl for the manual and 0.42kmpl for the automatic. In a comparison with its key competitor, the Hyundai Alcazar, which delivers 18.1kmpl and 20.4kmpl with diesel manual and automatic configurations, respectively, the Safari does exhibit slightly lower fuel efficiency.

Significant enhancements have also been made to the interior of both models. The updated Tata Harrier boasts a larger 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system equipped with the latest smartphone connectivity features. It is complemented by a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, a new 4-spoke steering wheel featuring an illuminated Tata logo, ambient lighting strips, an updated touch-based climate control panel with toggles, and a new dial for the drive modes. Additionally, the Harrier now includes an Adaptive Cruise Control system as part of its ADAS suite.

Meanwhile, the revamped Tata Safari comes loaded with an array of features, including wireless phone charging, cruise control, dual-zone climate control, a panoramic sunroof, a comprehensive safety package with up to 7 airbags, a 360-degree camera system, and a gesture-controlled powered tailgate.

Following the introduction of the updated Harrier and Safari, Tata Motors has exciting plans for its future lineup. Up next is the Tata Punch EV and the Curvv concept-based coupe SUV. The company is also gearing up for a generation change for three of its highly popular models – the Nexon, Tiago, and Tigor. However, these refreshed models are expected to hit the roads in approximately 2-3 years.
