New Tata Harrier and Safari Bookings Open at Dealership Level

The upcoming 2023 Tata Harrier and Safari facelifts represent the next significant releases from the indigenous automaker in India. Although their official launch date remains undisclosed, both models are expected to hit the market in October 2023. Ahead of their debut, select Tata dealers have begun accepting bookings for these SUVs, with a booking amount of Rs 25,000 for the Harrier and Rs 21,000 for the Safari. Substantial changes are in store for both the interior and exterior, along with the introduction of a rumored 1.5L turbocharged DI petrol engine.

Both SUVs are anticipated to be equipped with Tata’s new 1.5L gasoline engine, designed to comply with the BS6 Phase II emission standards. It is also capable of running on a 20 percent petrol-ethanol (E20) fuel blend. Tata claims that this new petrol engine will excel in fuel efficiency and performance, thanks to its aluminum construction. Technologies such as a water-cooled variable geometry turbocharger, dual cam phasing, integrated exhaust manifold per cylinder head, and a variable oil pump further enhance its fuel efficiency.

Tata’s new petrol engine is also touted to offer a lower cost of ownership and an extended service life. Its power and torque figures are rated at 170bhp and 280Nm, respectively. This same powertrain will also be utilized in the production-ready Tata Curvv coupe SUV. Additionally, the 2023 Tata Harrier and Safari will continue to be available with their existing diesel engine options. Read: Tata Punch EV – How Different It Could Be From Regular Punch?

The second major upgrade will come in the form of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) technology, reserved for the higher trims. The updated models of these SUVs will also feature a new 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Expect to find features like a digital instrument cluster with navigation support, a new two-spoke steering wheel with an illuminated logo, touch-based HVAC controls, a newly-designed center console with a fresh gear lever, and new leatherette upholstery as possible offerings.

Most of the cosmetic changes are inspired by the Tata Curvv concept. The 2023 Tata Harrier and Safari facelifts will showcase a newly-designed front grille, tweaked front and rear bumpers, redesigned alloy wheels, LED taillights connected by a light bar, and sequential turn indicators.
