New Maruti SUV (Vitara) To Debut In the 3rd Week of July – Creta Fighter

The Indo-Japanese recently rolled out the all-new Maruti Suzuki Brezza within the price range of Rs 7.99 lakh – Rs 13.96 lakh (all, ex-showroom). The SUV comes with a host of new features along with significant design changes and mechanical updates. After the new 2022 Maruti Brezza, the company is gearing up to introduce its upcoming mid-size SUV co-developed with Toyota. It will Maruti Suzuki’s version of the recently-unveiled Toyota Urban Cruiser SUV. If reports are to be believed, the model will be named Maruti Vitara and it will debut in the third week of July 2022. Its market launch is likely to happen near around this festive season.

Measuring around 4.3 metres in length, the new Maruti SUV will take directly on the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and the upcoming Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder. The company aims to achieve 50% mid-size SUV market share with its new model. Similar to its Toyota counterpart, the new Maruti Vitara SUV will come with the hybrid powertrain. The model will enter into mass production in August at Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s Bidadi based plant in Karnataka.

Based on Suzuki’s Global C platform, the Vitara SUV will be made available with the 1.5L petrol with mild hybrid tech and Toyota’s 1.5L TNGA Atkinson Cycle engine. The latter will have a lithium-ion battery and offer an electric-only range of up to 25km. It might deliver fuel economy of around 24-25kmpl that will be best in the segment. Similar to the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, the new Maruti SUV will come with AWD system.

Speaking to a media publication, Shashank Srivastava, Senior ED – Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki, said that with the increasing volumes, sub-segments have emerged in the hatchback market. The company might bring in new models in those sub-segments. As of now, the carmaker is more focused to strengthen its SUV market. It’s betting big on the upcoming Maruti Vitara SUV.
