New Mahindra XUV300 EV Launch Timeline – Tata Nexon.ev Fighter

Numerous spy images and videos have showcased the updated Mahindra XUV300 subcompact SUV, undergoing extensive testing by the carmaker. Despite the undisclosed official launch timeline, a recent media report asserts that the facelifted Mahindra XUV300 is slated to grace showrooms by February 2024. Adding an intriguing twist, the company plans to unveil the subcompact SUV with an electric powertrain, featuring distinctive EV-specific design modifications.

Cheaper Than XUV400 EV

It’s worth noting that the Mahindra XUV400, slightly larger than the XUV300, presently competes with the Tata Nexon EV. The impending introduction of the XUV300 EV is poised to intensify competition against the Nexon EV, with reports suggesting a price tag nearly Rs 2 lakh lower than the XUV400 EV, which is currently available in the price bracket of Rs 15.99 lakh to Rs 19.39 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom). Official pricing details for the new Mahindra XUV300 EV are anticipated to be disclosed by June 2024.

XUV300

Smaller Battery Pack

According to the report, the Mahindra XUV300 EV will feature a smaller 35kWh battery pack coupled with a front axle-mounted electric motor generating 150bhp and 310Nm of torque. In contrast, the XUV400, equipped with the same powertrain setup, boasts a claimed range of 375km on a single charge (as per the Indian driving cycle – MIDC). Its battery pack can be charged from 0 to 80 percent in just 50 minutes using a 50kW DC fast charger.

EV-Specific Design Changes

The design and styling of the XUV300 electric SUV will draw inspiration from Mahindra’s upcoming BE (born-electric) SUVs. Anticipated cosmetic alterations primarily focus on the front end, encompassing a newly-designed two-part grille with a more prominent central air intake, revised headlamps, new LED DRLs, and a modified bumper.

Additionally, expect newly-designed alloy wheels, a distinct tailgate featuring a full-width LED light bar, and a subtly repositioned registration plate. Internally, the new Mahindra XUV300 EV will boast a larger touchscreen infotainment system, a revamped center console, and a slightly altered dashboard design.
