Kia India has further expanded the Carens MPV model lineup with a new Luxury (O) variant that costs Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom). The new variant, which is exclusively offered in 7-seats configuration, sits above the Luxury and below the Luxury + trims. In terms of features, the new Kia Carens Luxury (O) variant offers ambient lighting liked with the multi drive modes and an electric sunroof in addition to all fitments offered on the Luxury trim.
The new variant also comes equipped with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a 4.2-inch colour MID, Kia Connect UI with OTA updates, leather wrapped steering wheel, air purifier, seatback tables for the second row, telescopic steering wheel, under seat tray, full leatherette seats, cruise control, rear view camera, 6-speaker sound system, automatic climate control, keyless entry and go, LED headlamps and fog lamps, LED DRLs, LED taillamps.
The standard safety kit of the MPV includes 6 airbags, hill start and descent control, anti-lock braking system, electronic stability control, vehicle stability management, rear parking sensors, brake assist system all wheel disc brakes, and tyre pressure monitoring system. The new Kia Carens Luxury (O) variant can be had with either a 1.5L turbo petrol engine or a 1.5L diesel engine. While the gasoline unit makes 160bhp with 253Nm (most powerful in its segment), the oil burner makes power worth 115bhp and 250Nm of torque. Both motors meet the RDE norms and comply with E20 fuel blend. Transmission choices include a 6-speed iMT, a 6-speed torque convertor automatic (diesel only) and a 7-speed DCT automatic (turbo-petrol only).
The MPV also comes with a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine that’s good for 115bhp. It’s paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Kia claims that the Carens petrol (1.5L NA) offers mileage of 16.5kmpl and the diesel promises 21.5kmpl.
