New Jeep SUV To Challenge Creta and Grand Vitara?

With an aim to create a strong customer base in terms of product and services, Jeep will expand its SUV product portfolio in India. While the company hasn’t yet revealed names and details of the upcoming models, rumour has it that Jeep might enter into the highly competitive mid-size SUV segment. The Jeep Avenger SUV, that recently made had its world premiere, could make its way to India as Hyundai Creta and the newly-launched Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder rival. The Avenger will initially be launched in the European market.

At the heart of the new Jeep SUV will be a 1.2L turbo petrol engine delivering power worth 100bhp. The same motor makes 110bhp in the India-spec Citroen C3 hatchback. It will be made available with the manual gearbox only. The SUV will offer FWD (front-wheel drive) system. There will also be a mild hybrid version featuring a Stellantis-built 54kWh battery pack that will be good for 156bhp and 260Nm.

The Jeep Avenger electric will offer a range of around 400km on a single charge. Both petrol and electric versions will have Jeep’s Selec Terrain off-road modes including Normal, Eco, Sport, Snow and Mud. It’s claimed to offer “impressive” ground clearance, good breakover and approach angles.

 The Avenger SUV shares its modular CMP platform with the C3. Upfront, the SUV carries the brand’s signature seven-slot grille flanked by headlamps with split layout and integrated thin LED DRLs. The model has also been assembled with the 18-inch alloy wheels along with the black body cladding, , bold shoulder creases and squared-off taillamps with X-shaped LED lights.

The new Jeep SUV has minimalist theme inside the cabin. It features a large 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a digital driver’s display, rectangular AC vents integrated into the dashboard, ambient lighting, dual zone climate control, adaptive cruise control, rain sensing wipers and more.
