New Hyundai Verna Gets 5-Star Safety Rating – How & Why?

It’s indeed an exhilarating development for Hyundai and its discerning clientele. The recently tested Hyundai Verna has achieved a remarkable milestone by securing a coveted 5-star rating in the latest Global NCAP safety crash test. This mid-size sedan has notched up a stellar performance, earning a 5-star rating for both adult and child occupants, as per the updated safety test protocols.

In the assessment, the test model garnered a commendable score of 28.18 points out of 34 points for adult occupant protection, achieving top marks, and a tally of 42 out of 49 points for child occupant protection. The scrutiny conducted by the safety watchdog revealed that the driver’s and passenger’s head and neck protection were deemed ‘good,’ while chest protection was found to be ‘adequate’ for the driver and ‘good’ for the front passenger.

In the side impact test, conducted with a deformable barrier under the new testing protocols, the Hyundai Verna exhibited outstanding passenger protection, securing a score that left little room for improvement. The side pole impact tests also yielded positive results, with the sedan earning a ‘Good’ rating. However, it was noted that chest protection, while adequate, could benefit from further enhancement. The safety body’s report the sedan’s bodyshell integrity (frontal) as unstable and its footwell area, showcasing its ability to withstand additional loading. The Hyundai Verna showcased impressive performance in the realm of child occupants’ protection tests as well, amassing a significant score within the testing parameters. Notably, it received a perfect 12 out of 12 points for the Child Restraint System (CRS) installation, underscoring its commitment to ensuring the safety of younger passengers. Its dynamic score and vehicle assessment score stood at 24 out of 24 points and 6 out of 13 points, respectively.

Alternatively, the 1.5L turbo petrol engine promises a formidable 160bhp and 253Nm of torque, mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT automatic transmission.
