New Hyundai SUV Under Testing – Is It New-Gen Venue?

Hyundai has started testing a new SUV in its domestic market (i.e. South Korea). One of its test mules was recently caught on camera wearing heavy camouflage, covering most of its design details. Going by its silhouette, the model appears similar to the Hyundai Venue subcompact SUV that received a mid-life update in India last year. Talking about the prototype, the new Hyundai SUV features a radar module integrated into the lower section of the front bumper. It’s for ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) tech.

One can also notice the front parking sensors. Upfront, the test mule carries Hyundai’s new parametric grille that will also be seen on the updated Creta. The latter one is due for early 2024. The spotted model has upright stance along with the vertically stacked headlamps with LED DRLs.

If it’s the new-generation Hyundai Venue, the model will become the first sub-4 metre SUV in India to come with ADAS suite. Its arch rival – Tata Nexon is also ready to receive a heavy update and could be offered with ADAS tech.

The new-gen Hyundai Venue is expected to come with the existing engine setup that includes a 1.2L, 4-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol, a 1.0L, 3-cylinder turbo petrol and a 1.5L, 4-cylinder diesel. The naturally aspirated petrol and turbo petrol motors make a top power of 82bhp with 114Nm and 118bhp with 172Nm respectively. While the former comes with a 5-speed manual gearbox, the latter is paired to a 6-speed iMT transmission. The 1.5L diesel motor pushes out a peak power of 113bhp and 250Nm of torque. It gets a 6-speed manual gearbox.

One must note that there is no official word launch timeline of the new-gen Hyundai Venue. The subcompact SUV might witness a minor price hike. It’s currently available within the price range of Rs 7.72 lakh – Rs 13.18 lakh (all, ex-showroom).
