New Honda WR-V 2023 Scores 5 Stars In ASEAN NCAP Crash Test

Honda has recently introduced the new gen Honda WR-V in the Indonesian market. The SUV measures around 4 meters in length, and is under consideration for India launch. Honda has also announced plans to launch an all-new SUV in our market in the next few months. It will be a midsize SUV and will rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara and others. The sub-4 meter SUV is expected to be launched sometime in 2024.

New Honda WR-V Adult & Child Occupant Protection

The new Honda WR-V SUV has been crash tested by ASEAN NCAP and passed the test with distinction. It scored an excellent 5 Stars in the crash test. The WR-V RS variant was tested by ASEAN NCAP. This variant comes with Honda Sensing or ADAS tech as standard. It features side and curtain airbags along with dual front airbags, and is fitted with a 1.5L NA petrol engine.

The new Honda WR-V scored a total of 27.41 points out of a possible 32 points in the adult occupant test. The SUV receives 14.88 points in frontal impact test, 8 points in side impact test and 4.73 points in head protection test. The test results show that the SUV offers adequate protection to the chests of dummy occupants. Adding to it, the vehicle’s frontal compartment remained stable in the test.

In child occupant protection, the Honda WR-V 2023 model received a total of 42.79 points from a maximum of 51 points. It scored 24 points in dynamic tests, 8 points in vehicle-based tests, 10.06 points in installation of child seats and 0.73 points for child detection.

ADAS test

ASEAN NCAP has tested the new WR-V’s active safety systems. The SUV scored 6 points in effective braking & avoidance, 3 points in seat belt reminders, 4.37 points in autonomous emergency braking, 3 points in advanced SATs. The SUV scored 16.37 points out of a maximum of 21 points in the ADAS test by ASEAN NCAP.

The SUV is fitted with features like autonomous emergency braking (AEB), AEB Inter-Urban, AED pedestrian, lane departure warning, forward collision warning and lane keep assist. Adding to it, the SUV gets blind spot visualization, auto high beam and AEB for motorcyclists.
