Bajaj Auto has introduced the new Chetak electric scooter in the country. The updated model receives three new colours, namely, Matte Caribbean Blue, Matte Coarse Grey and Satin Black. The scooter’s base variant has been priced from Rs 1.21 lakh (all ex-showroom, Bengaluru). Bookings for the new 2023 Bajaj Chetak Premium Edition have already been commenced, while deliveries will start from April. It has been priced at Rs 1.51 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru).
The new 2023 Bajaj Chetak Premium Edition has all metal body and a new, larger and coloured LCD display. Its other key highlights include body-coloured rear view mirrors, a dual-tone seat, a black grab rail and matching pillion footrest castings. The headlamp casing, central trim elements and blinkers in Charcoal Black colour add more to its sporty looks.
For power, the Chetak uses a 3.8kW/4.1kW, electric motor transferring power to the rear wheels via an automated transmission. Power from the motor comes from a lithium-ion battery pack, which is now claimed to deliver a range of 108km. Compared to the previous version that offers a range of 95km in Eco mode and 85km in Sport mode, the new one promises 20 percent extra range.
The new 2023 Bajaj Chetak will be available over 60 Bajaj dealerships. The carmaker aims to expand its dealership network to 100 outlets across 85 cities by the end of March 2023. Furthermore, Bajaj will open more than 40 exclusive Experience Centres and double its service centres. Production of the Chetak will also be increased over 10,000 units per month.
If reports are to be believed, Bajaj Auto is planning to launch five electric scooters that will help the brand achieve around 15 percent of the EV market by 2024-25. Interestingly, the upcoming Bajaj electric scooters will more affordable than the Chetak. Production of the first affordable EV (codenamed H107) from Bajaj is reported to start in the next fiscal year.
