New-gen Volkswagen T7 Multivan To Be Unveiled In June 2021: Teased

German automaker, Volkswagen has released new teaser sketches of the new-gen T7 Multivan. The new-gen Volkswagen T7 Multivan is scheduled to make global debut in the middle of June 2021.

Volkswagen has also confirmed that the new-gen VW Multivan will be based on the MQB architecture, which also underpins the latest MK8 Volkswagen Golf and other models. The new model will feature a longer wheelbase and wider front and rear tracks, which should translate into spacious cabin. It is expected to offer more space for rear occupants compared to the existing T6.1-based people-mover.

The sketches reveal that the new-gen Volkswagen T7 Multivan will have an extra piece of glazing at the A-pillar to increase visibility. Similar arrangements were made to the original T1 from 1950. There is a strong character line that runs across the entire width of the T7’s flank, which is claimed to be inspired by the T3 on sale in 1979.

It is expected that the new-gen Volkswagen T7 Multivan will be launched with a plug-in hybrid powertrain, which will be sourced from the latest Mk8 Volkswagen Golf GTE. Inside the cabin, the T7 Multivan will get the 8th gen Golf’s digital instrument console and a bigger 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

There is a dual-clutch DSG automatic transmission, which is now shift-by-wire. It won’t get a manual transmission, which will help VW to liberate space to offer a third front seat in some variants. The manual handbrake will be replaced by an electronic park brake. The MPV will also get a new 360 degree camera system. It could also get the Volkswagen’s latest semi-autonomous parking aids.
