The American car manufacturer, Ford is looking to make a re-entry in the Indian market. The company has cancelled its deal of selling the Chennai-based manufacturing unit with the JSW Group. In fact, Ford Motor Company is hiring multiple new people in India. This is a clear hint towards the brand’s plan to make a re-entry in our market. What’s interesting is that Ford has trademarked the design of the new Endeavour in India.
New Ford Endeavour
If reports are to be believed, Ford Motor Company is planning to introduce the new gen Endeavour in the Indian market. It is most likely to be launched in our market in 2025. The company is planning to assemble the Endeavour at the company’s Chennai factory. The new Endeavour 3-row SUV comes with all-new design and interior along with new engine options. The styling is inspired from the new F-150 Raptor, featuring a new 3D radiator grille with vertical slats, new dual-pod projector LED headlamps with stylish C-shaped LED DRLs, new bumper that has a wider air-intake and new fog lamp housing, a massive silver-finished skid plate, bigger 20-inch alloy wheels, C-shaped LED tail-lights, and a roof-mounted spoiler.
The new Ford Endeavour has a more feature-loaded and premium cabin than the previous model. It comes with an all-black interior scheme with leather upholstery for seats, steering wheel and gearbox. The SUV is fitted with a vertically-stacked 12-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, a 12.3-inch digital driver display, a panoramic sunroof, automatic AC, electrically adjustable driver’s seat, a 360 degree camera, matrix LED headlamps, adaptive cruise control and an automatic evasive steer assist. It also comes with advanced driver assistance system with features include blind zone warning, a rear cross-traffic alert, an advanced autonomous emergency braking system and others.
The new Endeavour aka Everest is available with 3 engine options including a new 3.0L turbocharged, a 3.0L V6 engine and a 2.3L EcoBoost. Depending on the market, the 3-row SUV could also receive a smaller 2.0-litre diesel engine. Transmission choices will include a 6-speed manual and a 10-speed automatic.
Next-gen Toyota Fortuner
Toyota is working on the next generation Fortuner 3-row SUV, which is likely to make global debut sometime in 2024. The new model will receive significant design changes and an all-new interior along with new mechanics. It will be designed & developed on an all-new TNGA-F architecture, which underpins multiple global cars including the Land Cruiser 300 and the Tacoma pickup.
It will be powered by a 2.8-litre turbo diesel engine, which comes with a 48-volt mild hybrid setup. This setup claims to have improved the fuel efficiency by 10% compared to the regular model. The powertrain is coupled to a 6-speed automatic gearbox. It will also come with a stop/start system and is claimed to improve the NVH levels. The electric motor in the hybrid setup is claimed to offer enhanced torque assist and support regenerative braking.
The new-gen Toyota Fortuner is likely to share styling cues from the Tacoma pickup. It will come with an aggressive front bumper design for improved off-road credentials, a wider fender flares, a flat bonnet with strong curves & creases, a blacked-out roof with white body work, prominent cladding around flared wheel arches and skid plates.
