New-Gen MG Hector Confirmed – 14-inch Touchscreen Revealed

MG Motor India has revealed the first teaser of the new-gen MG Hector SUV. The first official image of the new Hector interior has also been revealed. The company claims that the interior of the SUV is conceptualized as a ‘Symphony of Luxury’. The new model comes equipped with India’s largest 14-inch HD Portrait touchscreen infotainment system.

MG claims that the “new-gen MG Hector is designed to enhance the in-car experience and capture the imagination of new-age customers.” The new model will come with design changes and upgraded cabin with segment-leading features. While its official details are yet to be revealed, the new-gen MG Hector is likely to come with the Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). MG is already offering these features on the Astor SUV.

The ADAS features include forward collision warning, lane departure warning, lane-keep assist, rear cross traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, speed warning, intelligent headlamp control and blind spot detection. The new ADAS tech is likely to be offered on the top-spec Savvy trim. The new-gen MG Hector is also expected to receive AI (Artificial Intelligent) assist and an updated digital instrument console.

The new 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system will come with connected car tech and wireless connectivity features. The SUV will come with a Jio e-SIM for connected car features, and a digital key that owner can install on the phone. Similar to the Astor SUV, the new-gen MG Hector SUV will come with a unique voice experience with a personal AI assistant.

The new-gen MG Hector is expected to retain the existing engine line-up. It will be offered with the same 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder turbo petrol and a 2.0-litre diesel engine. While the gasoline unit is good enough for 141bhp and 250Nm, the oil burner produces 168bhp and 350Nm of torque. The petrol engine will be offered with the mild hybrid system. The 1.5L petrol engine will come with a 48V mild hybrid system. A 6-speed manual gearbox driving the power to the front wheels will come as standard. The petrol engine will also come with a CVT automatic gearbox.
