Volvo XC40 Recharge Price In India Rs 55.90 Lakh – Key Features

The Volvo XC40 Recharge, the first electric SUV from the Swedish automaker, has finally been launched in India. The model, which will be locally assembled, costs Rs 55.90 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Compared to its petrol version, the electric iteration is around Rs 11.40 lakh more expensive. The SUV is exclusively available on Volvo’s website and its official bookings will begin from 27th July at an initial sum of Rs 50,000. The carmaker is offering a 3 year warranty on the electric XC40 and 8 years warranty on its batteries. Buyers also get a 11kW wall-box charger.

Powertrain setup of the XC40 Recharge includes a 78kWh battery that’s claimed deliver a range of 418km on the WLTP cycle. Its battery pack can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in 33 minutes by using 150kW DC fast charger. The company says that the Volvo XC40 Recharge can be fully charged in about 2.5 hours via a 50kW fast charger. There are two electric motors placed on each axle, delivering power worth 408bhp and 660Nm of torque. Compared to its petrol version, the electric XC40 is two-folds more powerful and heavier by 400kg. The SUV is claimed to accelerate 0 to 100kmph in 4.9 seconds.

Inside, the Volvo XC40 Recharge has a new touchscreen infotainment system and telematics borrowed from the updated XC60. Driver has access to Google Maps and Assistant along with multiple apps from the PlayStore via an onboard e-SIM. Features such as ADAS (advanced driver assistance system) with Level 2 autonomous driving, a Harman Kardon audio system, wireless phone charging, connected car tech, a panoramic sunroof, powered front seats with driver-side memory further enhance its comfort and premium quotient.

Dimensionally, the electric XC40 is 15mm longer and have slightly lower ground clearance than its petrol counterpart. Some of its key design elements include new ‘Thor’s Hammer’ DRLs, blacked-out front grille, revised bumpers and newly-designed dual-tone 19-inch alloy wheels. The SUV offers a boot space of 452-litres (with an additional under bonnet space of 31-litres).
