New-Gen Mahindra XUV500 Rear Snapped In Production-Avatar

Mahindra & Mahindra, the homegrown UV maker has recently launched the much-awaited second-generation Mahindra Thar lifestyle SUV at an aggressive price of Rs 9.80 lakh. The company is now ready to introduce the new-gen XUV500 and the Scorpio. While the new-gen Mahindra XUV500 is scheduled to be launched in the Q1, 2021, the new Scorpio will arrive in mid-2021.

With launch getting closer, the new XUV500 spy images start revealing production-ready design elements. Latest spy images of the new-gen Mahindra XUV500 partially reveals the production-spec tail-lamp cluster. Earlier, the new model was spotted with dummy tail-lights. This time, the spotted model looks like in pre-production stage.

The spy images suggest that the new-gen Mahindra XUV500 might receive L-shaped tail-lamp clusters. It could also receive horizontally stacked LED tail-lamps. A pair of reflectors mounted on the rear bumper is also visible. It is also confirmed that the next-gen XUV500 will receive flush-fitting door handles.

The new XUV500 will be designed and developed on the newly developed front-wheel-drive monocoque platform, which will also underpin the Ford C-SUV. The SUV will receive new family design with angular headlamp clusters and boomerang shaped LED DRLs. It will have a larger and bolder 7-slat grille. The new model will grow in size, which should help Mahindra to create more space inside the cabin. The new-gen Mahindra XUV500 will be powered by a new 2.0-litre mStallion T-GDi turbocharged petrol engine, which was unveiled at the 2020 Auto Expo. This engine produces 187bhp at 5,000rpm and 380Nm of torque between 1,750-4,000rpm. The diesel version will receive a BSVI compliant 2.2-litre turbocharged engine with power output close to 180bhp.
