New Citroen C3 Sporty Front Design To Be Inspired By C4 Cactus: Spied

French automaker, Citroen is developing an all-new smart city car for the growing markets including India and Brazil. Internally called the Project CC21, the new model is reportedly to be called Citroen C3 Sporty. It will be the brand’s new sub-4 meter SUV, which will be positioned against the Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite, Hyundai Venue and the Kia Sonet. The SUV has been caught testing multiple times in India as well in Brazil.

The latest spy image shows that the Citroen C3 Sporty will have front inspired by the C4 Cactus. The new model will be based on the simplified version of the CMP (Common Modular Platform) platform. This platform currently underpins the new Peugeot 208.

The new Citroen C3 Sporty front have frames on the fenders and roof rack. Upfront is a luminous signature in the form of two “Y” beam-lines. The top-spec model will come equipped with full LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs. The spy images reveal that the bumper has black appliqués and a huge honeycomb grille in the center and the hood seems identical to the Citroen C4 Cactus.

The side profile has smooth lines and relatively flat in terms of styling. The prominent crease is also visible at the bottom of the doors. The small SUV has horizontal lanterns. It features a very short trunk lid.

Citroen’s “Smart Car” project will include a hatchback, a sedan and a sub-4 meter SUV, but the hatchback and the sedan are yet to hit the roads for testing purposes. In the Brazilian market, the Citroen C3 Sporty is likely to be powered by the PSA 1.6-litre naturally aspirated engine with 5-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed AT.

The India-spec model will use the 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which is likely to produce around 130bhp of power. The SUV will come with a six-speed manual gearbox as standard, while an automatic gearbox will be added to the line-up at a later stage.
