New Citroen C3 Compact SUV For India – New Details Emerge

French automaker, Citroen will launch its first product – the C5 Aircross SUV – in the Indian market on April 7, 2021. The new model will arrive as a CKD unit and is estimated to be priced around Rs 28 lakh to Rs 30 lakh. Citroen is also working on multiple new locally developed cars, which will be launched in the next 2-3 years.

The first locally developed Citroen product will be launched in the second half of 2021. Codenamed Citroen C21, the new vehicle will be a sub-4 meter SUV to rival the Nissan Magnite and the Renault Kiger. It is rumoured to be called the new-generation Citroen C3.

The new Citroen C3 compact SUV has already been caught testing multiple times on the Indian roads. The spy images reveal that the new sub-4 meter SUV will take design inspiration from bigger Citroen cars including the C5 Aircross. It features the signature chromed grille, and split-LED headlamps. The new model will be a part of Citroen’s new ‘C-Cubed’ plan – Cool, Comfort and Clever.

The SUV gets powered ORVMs with integrated blinkers and wrap-around tail-lamps. The SUV will be designed and developed on the Groupe PSA’s CMP (Common Modular Platform), which will also underpin the future Citroen products in India. In fact, Jeep is also rumoured to share the CMP platform to develop a sub-4 meter SUV.

Inside the cabin, the Citroen C3 compact SUV gets a multi-functional steering wheel, a free-standing touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, connected car technology, push-button start/stop system, cruise control, automatic AC, digital instrument console, reverse camera, rear AC vents, and others. The SUV will receive a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine, which can produce up to 130bhp of power. The compact SUV could get a 99bhp/150Nm engine paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The new C3 compact SUV could be the first model in India to feature flex-fuel system, which will feature a 1.2-litre petrol engine with ethanol blends starting from 27% to entirely on the biofuel.
