The first quarter of 2022 will surely be action-packed as several important new car launches have been planned across the segments. Car manufacturers such as Kia and Citroen have already confirmed their new models for early 2022. While the former is likely to introduce a compact 7-seater MPV, the latter will foray into the highly-competitive sub-4 meter SUV segment with Citroen C3. The American SUV manufacturer, Jeep will also bring in its new 7-seater SUV based on the Compass called – the Jeep Meridian. Kia KY
According to a leaked document, the new Kia compact MPV will hit Indian shores in January 2022. The model will be designed and developed especially for the Indian market. It will share its platform, features and engines with the Seltos SUV. Codenamed Kia KY, the model will have 7-seats configuration and put up against the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Mahindra Marazzo and the upcoming Hyundai 7-seater MPV. Citroen C3
Citroen’s new subcompact SUV is ready to make its global debut on coming 16th September in Brazil. Its launch will take place in early 2022. It will be the brand’s first production model to come under its C-Cubed programme. Interestingly, it might also be the first vehicle in India to offer flex-fuel powertrain. Reports suggest that the Citroen C3 compact SUV could be offered with a 1.2L petrol engine with ethanol blends. It will also be made available with the 130bhp, 1.2L turbo petrol motor. Jeep Meridian
Jeep Commander 7-seater premium SUV was recently made its world debut in Brazil. The same model will arrive in India, but with a different nameplate. The American SUV maker trademarked Jeep Meridian name in the country that’s likely to be used for the new 7-seater SUV. The India-spec model might witness minor cosmetic changes. It will be longer, wider, taller and more spacious than the Compass. Some of its design elements will be borrowed from the Grand Cherokee. The Meridian might be offered with 6 and 7-seats layouts.
