New BMW R18 Classic Launched In India; Priced at Rs 24 Lakh

BMW Motorrad India has launched the all-new BMW R18 Classic motorcycle in the country as a completely built-up unit (CBU). The all-new BMW R18 Classic First Edition is available at a price tag of Rs 24 lakh (ex-showroom). It comes equipped with the largest displacement boxer engine ever built by BMW.

The new BMW R18 comes with a standard warranty of 3 years and unlimited kilometres. The customers can also extend the warranty to fourth and fifth year. There is a Roadside Assistance, a 24×7 365 days package, which further ensures prompt services in case of breakdown. The new motorcycle features a large windscreen, passenger seat, saddle bags, LED headlamps and 16-inch front wheel.

Based on the double cradle frame, the new R18 Classic has tear drop fuel tank, circular instrument console with integrated display in a metal housing with chrome ring, LED headlights, ‘BERLIN BUILT’ inscription, LED DRL, etc.

Powering the all-new BMW R 18 Classic is a new air/oil cooled twin-cylinder boxer engine. This 1,802cc engine churns out a maximum power output of 91bhp at 4,750rpm and a torque more than 150Nm between 2,000 – 4,000rpm. A single-disc dry clutch transmits the torque to the transmission. It is paired to a constant mesh 6-speed transmission, which is designed as a 4-shaft transmission with helical gear pairs.

The motorcycle gets a telescopic fork and a directly mounted central suspension strut with travel-dependent damping and adjustable spring preload ensure superior wheel control and better suspension comfort. For braking, the bike gets a twin disc brake at the front and a single disc brake at the rear in conjunction with 4-piston fixed callipers. The motorcycle offers three riding modes – Rain, Roll and Rock. In Rain mode, throttle response is gentler and offers high safety over slippery road surface. In Roll mode, the engine offers optimum throttle response. Rock mode gives spontaneous and direct throttle response and the automatic stability control allows a little more slip.

As standard, the R18 Classic gets disengageable traction control and Automatic stability control, dynamic engine brake control, hill start control. keyless ride system and electronic cruise control.
