The next-generation Hyundai Verna will go on sale in India on 21st March 2023. Buyers can pre-book the vehicle by paying a sum of Rs 25,000. Comprehensive changes are expected to be made on its exterior and inside the cabin. Though, the major upgrade will come in the form of a new 1.5L direct injection, turbocharged petrol engine. The new motor returns a claimed power of 160bhp and 260Nm of torque. It can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a 7-speed DCT automatic gearbox. The new 2023 Hyundai Verna will also be available with a 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol engine that’s good enough for 113bhp and 144Nm. The gasoline unit will be offered with a 6-speed manual and an iVT transmission.
The sedan’s new model lineup will come in four trims – EX, S, SX and SX (O). The higher SX and SX (O) variants will be made available with all four engine-gearbox combinations. The entry-level EX and S trims can be had with the 1.5L naturally aspirated petrol motor paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox. There will be seven single-tone and two dual-tone exterior colour options.
In terms of features, the new 2023 Hyundai Verna will offer Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS). The suite will offer advanced safety features such as driver attention monitoring, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, rear cross traffic assistance and forward collision mitigation. The all-new Verna will carry Hyundai’s ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design language and have a fastback-like styling with a tapered roof. Upfront, there will be a wide grille merging into the headlamps that has split setup. The side profile could be similar to Hyundai’s globally sold models featuring dual-tone alloy wheels and C-pillar with chrome treatment. At the rear, the sedan will have taillamps with crystal-like inserts and a full-width LED lightbar.
With all aforementioned updates, the new 2023 Hyundai Verna is expected to witness a price hike of up to Rs 1 lakh – Rs 1.50 lakh. The sedan’s current-generation model lineup is available within the price range of Rs 9.64 lakh – Rs 15.72 lakh (all, ex-showroom).
