Minor Updates For Honda City In India – Explained Here

Honda Cars India has silently updated the 4th and 5th generation City sedan model lineup in the country. The 4th-generation City is now available in two petrol trims – SV MT and V MT – priced at Rs 9.29 lakh and Rs 9.99 lakh respectively. The entry-level SV petrol manual variant gets a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system (with previous generation software), which was earlier reserved for the V trim. The 5th generation Honda City comes with the plain, black plastic door handles instead of the chrome finished units. One must note that it’s standard across the model lineup.

The 16-inch, dual-tone spare alloy wheel has been replaced with the 15-inch steel wheel. The automaker has removed the full-size spare wheel and front and rear mud guards from the base V trim. The Honda City is available with the 1.5L petrol and diesel engine options delivering claimed power of 121bhp with 145Nm and 100bhp respectively. The sedan can be had with either a 6-speed manual or a CVT automatic gearbox.

Prices of the 5th-generation Honda City start from Rs 11.28 lakh and go up to Rs 15.23 lakh. There are 6 petrol variants that cost between Rs 11.28 lakh – Rs 15.03 lakh. The V, VX and ZX manual diesel variants are available at Rs 12.88 lakh, Rs 14.28 lakh and Rs 15.23 lakh respectively. All aforementioned prices are ex-showroom, Delhi.

Besides updating the City model lineup, the company is planning to remove trim badges (placed on tailgate) across its model lineup. Recently, Honda introduced the hybrid version of the City sedan at Rs 19,49,900 (ex-showroom). The model comes with an Atkinson Cycle 1.5L, 4-cylinder engine paired to two electric motors. It’s claimed to deliver fuel efficiency of 26.5kmpl and 1,000km of range. The Honda City Hybrid comes with an eCVT gearbox.
