MG Euniq 7, the 7-seater hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle (FCEV) luxury MPV, has made its India debut at the ongoing Auto Expo 2023. The model is on sell in global markets as Maxus Euniq 7. It’s the only passenger FCEV in production in the global portfolio of MG’s parent company SAIC.
Dimensionally, the Euniq 7 measures 5225mm in length, 1980mm in width and 1938mm in height with a wheelbase of 3198mm. The MPV previews the brand’s advanced FCEV technology.
Powertrain setup of the MG Euniq 7 includes a 92kW fuel cell stack paired to a permanent magnet electric motor making power worth 201bhp. It has three hydrogen tanks with a cumulative capacity of 6.4 kgs. The hydrogen is stored at a pressure of 70 MPa and the tanks filled up in 3-5 minutes. The fuel tanks are made up of carbonfibre reinforcements that’s capable to withstand high temperatures of 842 degrees C. Interestingly, the system can also work at extremely low temperatures (as low as -30 degrees C). The company says, the low temperature doesn’t impact its range. The Euniq 7 MPV can accelerate 0 to 50kmph in 4.9 seconds and attain a top speed of 150kmph. Similar to the other hydrogen FCEVs, MG’s 7-seater luxury MPV releases water vapour that said to works as a mobile air purifier.
Interior of the MG Euniq 7 features a large 12.3-inch free-standing touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument display, a panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control and several other goodies. On the safety front, the luxury MPV offers Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), anti-lock braking system, electronic stability control, etc. Globally, the model has been offered in 6 and 7-seats configurations. The 6-seater version comes with the captain seats in the middle row.
