MG Motor has recently launched the Astor mid-sized SUV to rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, VW Taigun and the Skoda Kushaq. The SUV has received positive response, as the new model is already sold out for 2021. MG has officially announced that it has delivered 500 Astor SUVs on the occasion of Dhanteras to its customers.
MG Motor is aiming to deliver 5000 Astors by the end of December, 2021. The company is trying to reduce the waiting period, as the automakers are facing shortage of semiconduction chips. Interested buyers can pre-book the new Astor online or via authorised dealerships. The new bookings will be delivered from 2022.
It is offered in 4 trim levels – Style, Super, Smart and Sharp – in two engine and 3 gearbox options. The MG Astor is available at a starting price of Rs 9.78 lakh, which goes up to Rs 16.78 lakh. The new mid-sized SUV is offered in 5 colour options – Spiced Orange, Aurora Silver, Glaze Red, Candy White and Starry Black.
The new model is equipped with segment-first Autonomous (Level 2) technology. Sourced from Bosch, the ADAS offer features like Lane Keep Assist, Lane Departure Prevention, Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Adaptive Cruise Control, Ford Collision Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Speed warning, and intelligent headlamp control.
The MG Astor is offered with two engine options – a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol and a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol. While the former is good for 110bhp and 144Nm, the later offers 140bhp and 220Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual & 8-speed CVT with 1.5L engine and a 6-speed automatic with turbo unit.
