MG Astor will be available for public display across the brand’s authorized showrooms from 19th September 2021. Official bookings will also be commenced on the same day. Its launch, however, will take place next month. In the mid-size SUV space, the new MG model will be put up against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos and Skoda Kushaq. The Volkswagen Taigun that’s due for 23rd September will also compete against it. The Astor is estimated to cost around Rs 10 lakh for the base model and its top-end variant could be priced around Rs 17 lakh (ex-showroom).
The carmaker has confirmed that the all-new Astor will be available in five colour schemes – Candy White, Starry Black, Aurora Silver, Spiced Orange and Glaze Red. The SUV model lineup will include five trims – Style, Super, Smart, Sharp and Savvy. It will come with two petrol engine options – 1.4L turbo and 1.5L VTi. While the former is claimed to return a top power of 136bhp and 220Nm of torque, the latter one makes power worth 107bhp and 144Nm of torque.
The 1.3L turbo-petrol engine can be had with a 6-speed automatic gearbox. The 1.5L gasoline unit will be offered with a 6-speed manual and an 8-speed CVT automatic transmission. The MG Astor shares its platform, design elements and features with the ZS EV. Though, it’s high on technology and offers several segment-first features including ADAS (advanced driver assistance system), Level 2 autonomous technology, a personal AI assistant system, over 80+ internet features and more.
Furthermore, the upcoming MG Astor SUV has been packed with a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 7.0-inch fully digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, a PM 2.5 filter, 6-way power adjustable driver seats, front and rear armrest, a 360 degree camera, auto climate control, digital key with Bluetooth (first-in-segment), 3 steering modes (Normal, Urban and Dynamic), 6 airbags, electric parking brake, rain sensing wipers and more.
