The new Mercedes-Benz AMG GLE 53 4matic+ Coupe has been launched in India at a starting price of Rs 1.2 crore. This is the first model from the 53 AMG lineup on sale in India. The Mercedes AMG GLE 53 Coupe is based on the GLE SUV, which is already on sale in our market.
The Mercedes-Benz GLE is available in 4 variants – 300 d 4Matic, 400 d 4Matic (HipHop), 400 d 4Matic and 450 d 4Matic. The new GLW 53 Coupe replaces the AMG GLE 43 Coupe, which was introduced in our market in 2016. The new model is powered by a V6 3.0-litre petrol engine, which is a twin-turbocharged unit. This engine is capable of producing 435bhp of power and 520Nm of torque. It is paired to a 9-speed AMG speed shift automatic gearbox.
Power is transmitted to the wheels via all-wheel-drive setup, called 4Matic Plus. The vehicle also gets a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, called EQ Boost. This hybrid unit offers additional 22bhp of power and 250Nm of torque on demand. The AMG GLE 53 Coupe is claimed to achieve 0-100kmph in just 5.3 seconds before hitting an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph.
In terms of styling, the Mercedes AMG GLE 53 Coupe looks largely identical to the regular model from the front. However, it gets vertical slat AMG-spec grille. The majority of the changes are made at the side as it features sloping roofline and the long rear overhang. The Coupe rides on 20-inch alloy wheels. AMG-spec features like the side skirts, AMG-spec spoiler and twin tailpipe exhaust are also on offer.
Inside the cabin, the Mercedes AMG GLE 53 Coupe gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument console. AMG additions can be seen on the steering wheel, seats, pedals and carbon fibre inserts in the doors and dashboard.
