The German luxury automaker has rolled out the performance-oriented Mercedes AMG E53 and E63 S in the Indian market. While the former has been priced at Rs 1.02 crore, the latter comes with a starting price tag of Rs 1.70 crore. One must note that the aforementioned prices are ex-showroom. Unlike the standard E-Class that’s available with the long wheelbase version, the AMG E53 and E63 S are offered with the standard wheelbase.
In the model lineup, the Mercedes AMG E53 sits below the E63 S and it doesn’t have any direct rival in the country. The Mercedes AMG E63 S takes head-to-head against the Audi RS7 and BMW M5 Competition that cost Rs 1.94 crore and Rs 1.62 crore respectively.
At the heart of the Mercedes AMG E53 is a 3.0L, 6-cylinder, in-line, twin-turbo petrol engine that’s good enough for 435bhp and 520Nm. It’s the same unit that does duty in the GLE 53 Coupe. The motor has been linked to a 9-speed automatic gearbox, delivering power to all four wheels via the Mercedes’ 4Matic+ AWD system. The performance car features AMG Ride Control+ air suspension.
The Mercedes AMG E63 S derives power from a 4.0L, twin turbo V8 engine pushing out a peak power of 177bhp and 330Nm of torque. The motor has been boosted with cylinder deactivation technology that enhances its fuel efficiency. Similar to the AMG E53, the AMG E63 S comes with the 9-speed automatic transmission and the 4Matic+ AWD system. It can accelerate 0 to 100kmph in 3.4 seconds.
Talking about the Mercedes AMG E53, the model comes packed with a 12.3-inch touchscreen MBUX infotainment system and a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster with bespoke AMG display options. Some of its other key features include a 360 degree parking camera, wireless phone chargers, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, a larger aluminum paddle shifters and haptic feedback controls, a new twin-spoke AMG Performance steering wheel, AMG badging all around the cabin and AMG front seats.
